アメリカ・オレゴン州でクジラを探す<Look for Whale at Oregon coast>
今週月曜日（3月29日）にオレゴン州の海岸からクジラを探しに行った。
<I visited Oregon coast for looking for Whale on March 29.>
まず向かったのはDepoe Bay にあるWhale Watching Center だ。
<1st place was Whale Watching Center in Depoe bay.>
COVID19のためにずっと休館していることは知っていたが、海岸から観察することは可能だろうと思い行ってみた。
<I knew it was closing due to COVID19, but I thought it is possible to see from there.>
朝8時ぐらいに到着し、防寒具を着て、望遠鏡を持ってセンターから海面を観察した。
<I arrived there around 8am. I put warm clothes, and observed the sea surface from the center with scope.>
同じように観察している人は多くなかった。2~3人のグループが3つぐらい。
<There are few group who observe like me.>
クジラが見えたか聞いてみたが誰も見た人はいなかった。
<There aren't people who could see whale.>
1時間ぐらいは粘ったが結局見れなかった。
<I stayed there about one hour, but I couldn't see it.>
センターには観察に適したスポットを紹介するパネルがあったので次に移動することにした。
<There is an explanation which shows sutable spots to watch whales. And I moved to next spot.>
南に車で5分ぐらいのところにあるRocky Creak には2~3台の車が停まっていた。
<5 minutes drive for sauth took me Rocky Creak. There were 2~3 cars.>
小高い場所から海面が広く見渡せた。
< I had a wide view from a little eravated location.>
さらに南に5分ぐらいのCape Foulweather にも車は2~3台だった。
<Next, at Cape Foulweather, there also were 2~3 cars.>
先のRocky Creak よりもさらに高い場所から海面を見渡せたので、クジラを探すには絶好の場所だと思った。
<I could see from higher place than Rocky Creak, I guess it's the best for looking for Whale.>
ただし、その日に見れるかどうかは運次第なんだろう。ここでも見れなかった。
<However, whether or not I can see it that day might depend on my luck. I cpouldn't see it eather.>
次はYaquina Head Lighthouse に行った。
<Next was Yaquina Head Lighthouse.>
灯台があるんだからきっと見晴らしはいいはずだと思ったからだ。
<I thought that since there was a lighthouse, there must be a good view.>
まず、行ってみて気づいたのだが、ここは国立公園と同じ管理区域だった。
<At first, I noticed it is managed as National Parks.>
ちょうど国立公園の年間パスの期限が切れていたので、入場の際に年間パス（$80）を購入した。
<My anual pass was expired, so I bought it..>
このパスは期限切れのものだ。
<The expired one is here.>
もし一日券で入場するなら$7と言っていたと思う。
<The officer said $7 is for one day entrance.>
海面からの高さは期待したほどではなかったが、この灯台前の駐車場から、小高い丘に登ることができた。
<The elevation hight from see was not my expectation, but I could up the hill behind the lighthouse.>
これはまだ上っている途中だがこんな感じだ。
<This picture was took on the way to the top.>
この灯台の説明書きが幾つかあって、灯台の歴史や周辺では国道1号線の工事のために土砂を運び出したことなど勉強になった。
<I learned the history of the lighthouse and the cape with some explanation boards.>
クジラは見れなかったが幾つかの場所を巡れてよかった。機会があればまた来よう。
<On the day, I couldn't see a whale, but I enjoyed very much for visiting many places, and I'd like to visit again.>
