フェアバンクスで再びオーロラを楽しむ<Enjoy Aurora borealis in Fairbanks again>
2022年9月29日から10月4日までアラスカ・フェアバンクスでオーロラを楽しんだ。
<I visited Fairbanks on 9/29/2022~10/4 again and enjoyed Aurora borealis.>
前回は昨年の年末から年初にかけての1週間で夜中の気温は-30℃とかなり寒かったが、今回は0度程度でかなり暖かかった。
<My first visiting on Fairbanks was the end of last year and begening of this year, and tempereture was -22 fahrenheit. However it was 32 fahrenheit and much higher than before.>
服装は薄めのダウンジャケット2枚重ねで、中にトレーナーと肌着、下はジーンズの中にフリース生地のズボンを履いた。暖かい帽子をかぶった。手袋も持って行っていたが使わなかった。
<I put two thin down-jackets and sweatshirt, and Jeans and flees-pants. I also used Warm cap, but didn't use glove.>
事前のオーロラ予報はとても良い。月齢も29日が新月から4日目で悪くない。後は天気だけが心配だった。
<Aurora forcust was pretty good shown as below. Moon condition was also good. I just worryed about weather.>
29日の14:30頃にFAI空港に到着し、レンタカーを借りてAirbnbに向かった。
途中で数日分の食料をWolmartで購入した。
<My plane arrived FAI around 2:30pm on 9/29. I headed to Airbnb by rental car.>
天気予報(Windy、Windy.app – Live wind map & weather forecast)によれば、これから数日間は曇りの日が続いていた。
<Weather forcust showed cludy days for several days.>
少しでも晴れ間が期待できるところを探して、この日（9/29）はエリオットフリーウェイElliot HWY沿いのパーキングエリア65.176902, -147.981939 （これをコピーしてGoogle mapの検索に入れると正確な場所が表示される）を選んだ。
<I chose a parking area beside of Elliot HWY taht I could expect clear sky for a few hours.>
いつもの光害マップではClass3, 0.200mcd/m2だった。
<Light polution map shows the darkness is class 3 and 0.200mcd/m2.>
もう少し北に行けばClass2だったが、雲が多そうなので諦めた。
<If I go a little far north, it is Class 2, but it looked having more clouds.>
この日（9/29）は雲が多く、そのため観察は短時間（1時間程度）だったがオーロラは常に出ていて肉眼でもはっきりと見ることができた。
<There are a lot of clouds, and I could enjoy Aurora only one hour or so, but Aurora appeared always and I could see with my nakid eye.>
次の日（9/30）も天気予報は悪かった。選んだのはリチャードソンフリーウェイRichardson HWY沿いのバーチ湖Birch Lakes（64.304647, -146.667029）Class2, 0.187mcd/m2。
<Next day, 9/30, the weather forcust was not good as well. I chose Birch Lake besides Richardson HWY.>
以外に雲は少なく、天の川が肉眼でもよく見えた。
<When I arrived, there is few clouds, and I coud see Milkyway with my naket eye.>
しばらくするとオーロラが現れた。<After while, Aurora appeared.>
北の空に見えたので湖面に映るオーロラも撮影できた。<I took photographs of Aurora reflection on the lake.>
オーロラは明るくなったり暗くなったりしながら、しかしほぼ常に肉眼で見える明るさで2時間以上出ていた。ゆらゆらと動くオーロラを見ることができ、沢山の写真も撮れたので満足していた。
<The brightness changed high and low, but I could see always for over two hours. And it was shaking and swaying. I saticefied with taking a lot of photographs.>
さらにフェアバンクスでの三日目（10/1）。この日のオーロラ予報はKp6で最も高かったので楽しみだった。天気予報はやはり悪かった。比較的ましだったのは昨日と同じBirch湖だったので、同じ場所に向かった。
<On the third day, 10/1, I'm looking forward to see Aurora that the forcust shows maximum kp, 6 during my trip. I headed to Birch lake that was shown the best weather candidate.>
道中では雲がほぼなくなり星が良く見えていたが、Birch湖に到着するとすっかり曇っていて星が見えなかった。<I could see clear sky during driving, but Birch lake area had a lot of clouds.>
仕方がないので少し引き返すことにした。<There were no chose, I returned a little where was clrear sky.>
雲が無くなり星が良く見えるようになってきたので、車を停めれる場所を探した。停めたのは、64.363210, -146.873090 で、後で調べたらClass3, 0.190mcd/m2だった。
運転中に星が見えた時には既にオーロラが激しく出ているのが見えたので、すぐに撮影の準備をした。<Aurora appeared already when I could saw stars.>
この日のオーロラは広い範囲に出ていて、激しく揺らいでいた。<Aurora appeared widely and swinged dynamically.>
特にオーロラの動きが激しい時には野生動物が一斉に遠吠えを始めたのにはとても驚いた。<When Aurora moved especially intensely, many wild animal howled simultaneously. It supprised me very much.>
この日はオーロラが東の地平線から西の地平線までほぼ頭の真上で大きな川のように常に明るく輝いていた。
10月2日の夜、この日は観察できる最終日である。それは4日の朝早くに出発するので3日の夜は見れないからである。
前日にすごくよくオーロラが見れたので、オーロラ予報的にもあれ以上のオーロラは見えないとは思ったが、それでも行くことにした。
この日は天気予報的には初日に行った北の方角が良かったので、そちらに向かった。
車で走りながら既にオーロラが見えていた。
駐車場について、ピンク色の濃いオーロラが見えた。これまで緑から白色に近いオーロラがほとんどで、ピンク色～紫色のオーロラは暗く肉眼ではギリギリ見えるかどうかのものが多かったが、この日は明確にピンク色が見えた。
さらに、この日もオーロラはかなり激しく揺らいでいた。（しかしこの日は野生動物の遠吠えは聞こえなかった。）
ぼぼ頭上の真上に近いやや北寄りの位置に太い明るいオーロラが良く見えた。
この日は天気予報通りに徐々に雲が多くなってきたので2時間ぐらいで切り上げた。

シアトル観光<Enjoy Seattle>
2022年9月27日と28日の二日間シアトル観光した。

初めてシアトルを観光するには、SeattleCityPass$115がお得だ。

SeattlCityPass is resonable for the first visitting.
スペースニードルSpace NeedleSpace Needleに、昼と夜にそれぞれ１回づつ登ることができる。

もし現地で入場券を購入すると$35/回だ。昼夜の2回券は$55だ。
<If I buy it each time, it costs $35 or Day/Evening tickt costs $55.>
二回上る必要があるかと思ったが、行ってみて分かった。絶対に必要だ。
<Before visiting, I thought if two times visiting are needed, but I understood it should be needed.>
夜の景色は昼にも負けず素晴らしい。
<Evening view is different from Day view and wonderful.>
よほど混んでいない限り事前に予約する必要はない。現地で入場券への交換ができる。
<I think reservation is not needed.>
次に水族館Seattle AquariumWe're open! | Seattle Aquariumの入館料もCityPassに含まれている。<Seattle Aquarium entrance is also included in CityPass.>
もし単発で購入するなら$22だ。<Single ticket is $22.>
それほど大きくない施設なので、1.5時間くらいで楽しめた。

自分は、動物園、チフリ、ハーバーツアーを選んだ。

動物園は、アメリカでは初めて行ったし、日本でも15年以上前に行ったっきりなので、比較はできないが、敷地は広くて2時間以上楽しむことができた。
<Regarding of zoo, I cannot compare it with othar because it was the first time for many years, maybe over 15 years.>
個人的には、特に良かったのはオオカミを初めてみたことと、
<I saw wolves first time, and it was most interesting to me.>
ジャガーを間近に見れたことだ。<Jager also facinated me.>
チフリは、どれも見ごたえのある作品がたくさん並んでいた。1.5時間くらい楽しんだと思う。<Chihuly has many beautiful arts, and I enjoyed for 1.5hours>
ハーバーツアーは、CityPassに付いていたものをUPGRADEしてロックスクルーズLocksCruiseTour of Ballard Locks - Locks Cruise - Seattle | Argosy Cruisesに申し込んだ。
これは+$20で、ユニオン湖からシアトル中心部まで2時間かけてたっぷりと楽しめた。
<With additinal $20, I upgraded Harbor tour to LocksCruise that it travel two hours from Lake Union to Seattle mid-town.>
幾つかのハーバーには高級そうなボートやヨットが沢山停泊していたり、シアトルには大型船が寄港するためなのか幾つかのタグボートの基地があった。<There are a lot of expensive looking boats and yachts in several harber and tugboat bases for visiting big ships.>
淡水湖から海への水門は船幅ギリギリで見ごたえがあった。<Ballard Locks that is between pure water and solt water is also worthful to see. Passing such locks is the first experience to me. The width is slightly wider than the cruise ship, and I was excited..>
海からのシアトルも美しかった。<The view of Seattle city from the ship was beautiful.>
このCityPassの利用以外には下記の場所を見学などした。

マウントフットと天の川を楽しむ <Enjoy Delta Aquarides Meteor Shower and Milky way with Mt. Hoot>
7月29日、みずがめ座流星群のピークの次の日（金曜日の夜から土曜日未明）に流れ星の観察をした。
<I observed Delta Aquarides Meteor Shower on July 29 that was the one day after the peak.
場所はMt.Hootの北側で、天の川をバックに山を撮影したかったからだ。
<I went to north of Mt. Hoot. I'd like to take Milky way photograph behind the mountain.>
いつもの光害マップLight pollution mapによると、夜空の明るさは0.196mcd/m2だった。
<Light pollution map sais the night sky brightness is 0.196cd/m2.>
9時過ぎに現地に到着した時は未だ明るかった。
<I arrived there around 9pm, and it was still bright.>
本当はもっと山の真北に行きたかったが、山からの雪解け水が川のように未舗装路の上を流れていたので怖くなって進めなかった。
<I hoped to go exactly north of the mountain, but I gave up because snow melt water flow on the unpaved rode.>
結局、山全体が良く見える牧場わきに車を停めて撮影することにした。
<At last, I located where I could see whole of the mountain.>
11時台の撮影で流星も撮ることができた。
<And it was very lackly that I could take a picture that included a meteor shower.>
この夜は2時ぐらいまで撮影を行い、合計で5~6個の流星を見ることができた。
<I continuesd taking photograph, and I saw 5 or 6 meteor shower.>

イエローストーン国立公園で天の川撮影を楽しむ<Enjoy Yellowstone National park>
アメリカの独立記念日の長期休みに有給休暇をくっつけて長期の休暇を取った。
そしてイエローストン国立公園とグレーシャー国立公園を楽しんだ。
どちらも二回目の訪問だ。
まずはYellowstoneから。
Ground villege のキャンプ場を３泊予約した。
訪問直前の６月下旬に大雨と気温上昇による雪解け水による大洪水が発生したためにYellowstoneは一週間ぐらい閉鎖していた。
大きな被害にあった皆さんが一刻も早く元の状況に戻れることを祈る。
自分が行ったときは、南側のみ開園されていた。
さて、今回の訪問の最大の目的は、湖面に移った逆さ天の川を撮ることだったので、その結果をこちらに。
あろうことか、三脚に固定する部品を忘れてきた。仕方がないので簡易三脚にカメラを取り付けて撮影した。
月が出ていなくて、遠くにはキャンプ場の灯りがあったが、空は真っ暗だった。
いつもの光害マップ Light pollution map では、0.172mcd/m2と書いているから、これまでで一番暗かったんじゃないかと思う。
天の川はとても明るくて、湖面に反射した天の川も肉眼で見えた。
写真の出来はイマイチだったかもしれないが、記憶には残る風景で満足した。
温泉・間欠泉・渓谷と滝・野生の大型動物も存分に楽しむことができたが、多くの方が紹介しているので、まずはここまで。
今回Yellowstoneで見たのは全て黒クマだった。
カメラ目線で長時間ポーズするリス。
至る所にいるバッファロー
有名すぎて説明不要の滝。
大型動物は、いつもだいたい同じところに現れるようだ。昨日も同じ場所でクマを見た。

へレンズ山と天の川撮影<Enjoy taking photograph of Milkyway with Mt. Saint Helens>
昨日2022年6月24日、仕事の後に天の川の撮影に向かった。今回へレンズ山だ。
<I went Mt. St. Helens on June 24 and enjoyed tking Milkyway photograph.>
いつもの光害マップによると、夜の明るさは0.188mcd/m2で、奇麗に写真が撮れると聞いたことがある大台ケ原（0.205mcd/m2だったと思う）よりも暗い。
<Light polution map says that the brightness is 0.188mcd/ms that is darker than Odaigahara that I heard people are enjoying beaytiful stars photograph. >
もちろんキレイに撮れるかどうかはその人の技量が重要だと思うが、自分のような初心者は、何よりも暗いところに行く必要がある。
<Of cause, camera skils are needed, but for beginner like me, darkness is important.>
アパートからは2時間程度のドライブで、9時半ごろにJohnston Ridge 展望台に到着した。
<I got to Johnston Ridge Observatory at 9:30pm with two hours drive.>
ほぼ真南にへレンズがあり、天の川の撮影場所としては良いのだが、駐車場からは少し歩かなくてはならない。
<The peak is in almost exactly south direction, and it should be the best position, but walking from parking lot is needed.>
もし真っ暗闇の撮影中に野生動物が出てきたら怖いので、場所を変えることにした。
<I worry if wild animals appear in the dark, so I changed a location.>
撮影場所として選んだのはElk Rock Viewpointだ。
<I set Camera at "Elk Rock Viewpoint".>
下記の写真はISO800, F2.8, 120secで撮影した。

山が真っ暗だったので、山肌の明るさをあげてみた。空は少し青みを加えた。
<Since the mountain was too dark, I increased the brightness. I also add blue in the sky.>
地平線の右側の明るいのは、Vancouver, WA（さらにPortland, OR）の方向だ。
<Bright horizon in right bottom seems to occur by the light polution of Vancouver WA.>
なお、北側はSeattleの方向だ。ちなみにSeattleまでは120km(75mile)も離れているがやはり明るかった。
<Northan holizon was blight as well, and it comes from Seattle that is 75mile far from here.>

天の川撮影を楽しむ<Enjoy taking photograph of Milkyway>
この日は2022年6月21日。ようやく晴れたので半年ぶりの星空撮影を楽しんだ。
<June 22, 2022. At last, sunny day came, so I enjoyed taking milkyway photograph.>
いつもの光害マップを使って、夜に暗いところを探した。
<I searched where dark place is with "Light pollution map">
今回はVancouver, WAから車で北に1時間弱のYale lake (0.207mcd/m2)に行った。
<I chose Yele lake that locates one hour drive from Vancouver WA.>
夜10時ぐらいに到着したが、夏時間で1時間早いことと、夏至だったために空がまだ明るかった。
<I arrived at 10pm, still not dark because Summer solstice and Daylight saving time.>
11時を回ってようやく暗くなってきた。
<It got dark after 11pm.>
幾つかの撮影条件を試し、今回一番きれいだなっと思ったのはこの写真だ。
<I tried several camera setting. My best shot of the day was as below.>
撮影は、0時半ぐらいで、条件はF2.8, ISO800, 120sec, 赤道義使用。
<I took it at 0:30 with F2.8, ISO800, 120sec., with Equatrial>

リッジフィールド国立野生生物保護区で写真撮影 Ridgefield National Wild Refuge
今日6/12は天気が良くなかったので リッジフィールド国立野生生物保護区Ridgefield National Wild Refuge に行って、車の中から動物の観察をしてきた。
最初に現れたのは鹿だ。ここでは２回に１回は出会える。
沢山の野鳥がいたが、写真が撮れたのは３種類だけだった。
名前を北米の野鳥 色別リスト１ | Satchanから自然便り - 楽天ブログ (rakuten.co.jp)で調べてみたが、これはムクドリだろうか？
これはサギだと思う。日本でもよく見た。
これはカラスだと思うが、鮮やかな模様が特徴的でRed Winged Brackbirdというみたいだ。
一か月前に同じ場所に行った時の写真も載せておこう。
これはワシかタカといった猛きん類だと思う。
また行ってみようと思う。
