アメリカ・オレゴン州で滝を楽しむ<Enjoy Falls in Oregon state, USA>
ポートランドPortlandからコロンビア川の少し上流側に移動すると素晴らしい景色に出会える。
<I enjoyed nice sceneries around Columbia river.>
30号線（ベトナム・ベテランズ・記念・ハイウェイと言うらしい）を東に進むといくつかの州立公園やViewPointがある。
<I drove #30, it named "Vietnam Veterans Memorial Hwy". There are several State Parks beside Columbia river.>
まずホーステールという滝に向かった。駐車場に車を停めると、大きな滝が拝める。
<At first, I visited HorseTail Falls. I could see it from car parking.>
高さは54m。水しぶきが飛んでくるほど水量も多いし、何より近くて迫力がある。
<The hight is 177feet. I had water mists because of high falls and a lot of amount of water flow.>
ヨセミテ国立公園にも同じ名前の滝があった。
<I remember there is the same name fall in Yosemite N.P. >
ここからトレイルでUpper Horsetail Fallsに向かった。滝は１つでもFallsと複数形になっているのは何でだろうか？
<From here, I headed Upper Horsetail Falls with using trail.. Why "falls" is plural form even it is one?>
上の滝までは10分ぐらいだったと思う。見ごたえもあるし、滝の後ろを回とオーバーハングが大きくて、よくこんな状態を維持していると不思議に感じた。
<It took about 10 minutes. Upper Horsetail falls is also good for visiting. Trail passes behind the falls and the overhang is quite big. I wonder how it stands such shape. It is mysterious!>
この日はCOVIT19のためトレイルはここまでで閉鎖されていた。
<On this day, October 25, The trail was closed here due to COVID19.>
一旦、車に戻りMultnomah Fallsの駐車場に向かった。
<Once, I backed to my car, then I headed to Multnomah Falls parking.>
駐車場からも落差のある滝が見えている。
<I could see the falls from the parking.>
和歌山の那智の滝とどことなく似ている？ような気がする。
<I guess it looks like "Nachi falls" in Wakayama, Japan.>
これは落差が190mもあって、観光客も多い。
<The hight is 620feet. Very high!! and there are many visitores.>
ここにも上に上るトレイルがあるんだが、閉鎖されている。
<THere is trail for going up, but it was closed also.>
ここからは隣のWahkeena Fallsまで車道沿いにトレイルが続いているので、進んでみた。20分ぐらいで到着した。
<There is another trail that continues along the roadway. I walked it and arrived it within 20minuts.>
少し上がると滝がある。
<With walking up a lottle, there is the falls.>
ここから上に続くトレイルはOpenしていた。もちろん楽しみことにした。
<From there, there is a trail that was opened. Of cause, I enjoyed it.>
道は良く整備されていて歩きやすいが、少し急なところを登っていくと30分ぐらいで疲れたところでLemmonsというViewpointがある。
<The trail is wall maintenanced and good for walking. But a little bit steep and hard for me. After 30 minutes walking, I arrived viewpoint named Lemmons.>
眼下には雄大なコロンビア川。対岸はワシントン州のGifford Pinchot 国立森林公園だ。
<I could see majestic river. The other side of the river is Gifford Pincho N.F.>
ここからさらに先にさらに20分トレイルを進むとFairy Fallsという滝に出会う。
<With continuing 20 minutes walking from here, I arrived another falls. >
それほど大きな滝ではないが、ごつごつとして岩壁を花嫁のベールのように広がりながら流れるさまは美しくて足を止めて見とれてしまう。
<They aren't very large, but it spreads falling water like a bride's veil and really beafuiful.>
本当にたくさんの滝がこの辺りにはある。
<There are so many waterfalls around here.>
しばらく休憩した後、ここからぐるっと回れるトレイルを楽しんだ。起伏はあまりなくVieWもあって1時間ぐらいの散歩だったと思う。
<I rest a bit, then I enjoyed aroud trail fromthere. It took about one hour. >
今日10月25日は寒かった。寒いはずだこの辺りのトレイルの道は凍っていた。
<Today, October 25, was cold day. The round trail was freezed.>
その後、Multnomah Fallsの駐車場まで戻った。
<After that, I went back to the parking.>
車道沿いの道はすぐ横を鉄道がはしっていて、ちょうど長い貨物列車がすごくゆっくりと通り過ぎた、と思ったら止まった。
<Along the roadway there was a railroad right next to it, and a long freight train just passed by very slowly, and then it stopped.>
駐車場まで戻ってもまだ止まっている。しばらく見ていると、ひとりの男性がコーヒーをもって列車の先頭のドアから入っていった。
<When I returned to the parking, the train was still stopped. I watched for a while as a man entered through the front door of the train with a cup of coffee.>
運転士だ。コーヒーを買うために列車をここで止めたんだ。
<That was train driver. He stopped the train for buying coffee.>
こんなことあるっ？って思いながら、後で思い出して笑ってしまった。
<Is it okay? I laughed again and again when I remembered.>
